Mutuality: reimbursement by your insurance

Bee RANA HAIR we ensure that you are well informed about the possibilities of reimbursement via your mutuality. If you purchase a hair prosthesis, wig or hairpiece from us, you may be able to receive a reimbursement from your health insurance fund. This may even be a full refund, depending on your health insurance fund and any additional insurance policies such as hospitalisation insurance.

For more clarity, we recommend that you contact your health insurance company in advance to discuss the conditions.

How do you request a refund through your health insurance company?

To qualify for compensation or full reimbursement through your health insurance fund, you must submit the following documents:

  • Purchase invoice: When purchasing your wig, hair prosthesis or hairpiece, you will receive the original invoice from us. You must submit this to your health insurance fund.
  • Application form: Your attending physician or dermatologist will provide a prescription for a wig, hairpiece or hair prosthesis. This serves as an application form and must be completed in full.

Reduced VAT rate on hairpieces

Since 2022, a reduced VAT rate of 6% applies to hairpieces and wigs that are reimbursed by the health insurance fund and are considered a medical device. To use this rate, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Prescription: A valid prescription from your doctor (for baldness due to radio- or chemotherapy) or dermatologist (for baldness of more than 30% due to skin conditions such as alopecia areata or cicatricial alopecia). Please note: the prescription must still be valid and may not be older than three months.
  • Place of residence and insurance: The reduced rate is only valid for persons who live and are insured in Belgium.

If you meet these conditions, you can order your hairpiece or wig from us at the reduced VAT rate of 6%. Because our items are priced with a VAT rate of 21% as standard, we have a separate procedure:

  1. Provide data: Fill in your details and upload a valid doctor's prescription via our special page.
  2. Receive a unique code: After checking your details, you will receive a unique code.
  3. Place an order: Use this code to order the products at the reduced rate.

Please note: accessories, small hairpieces or care products are subject to the standard VAT rate of 21%.
